The last time Jason Sieu Persad checked in there were rumblings about a forthcoming She’s The Queen remix. I’d been jonesing for some fresh Sanfernando Sound, so his “Sleepwalker’s Curse” remix has arrived not a moment too soon. We love how the man operates, and he relished the opportunity to remix a track by the NYC/Philly electro-pop trio, and accentuate Emily White’s hopeless lyrics with a dark-disco reworking. As this was one of the more enjoyable projects he’s undertaken thus far, JSP decided to bookend the track with a little memento to himself. A menacing Mediterranean night supplied the thunderstorm opening and closing, captured while enjoying the clarity of a deserted Ibiza beach…evocative right?
On a lighter note, his “robot-rock” rendition of Anarbor’s “Let The Games Begin” is also new, and it’s pleading for a battle of the sexes montage. JSP used his old Korg synth put through as many effects as he could find to give a vicious “guitar” solo to what I’m sure will be a prominent track this summer. It was great to hear from The Sanfernando Sound, and even better to hear a pair of strong new remixes, each with a distinct purpose; a dark dance track for after nightfall, and something better suited for panty raids and pillow fights…
