Pair Of Arrows – Superimposed

This morning I was going through Twitter and happened upon a tweet from Earmilk favorite ill.Gates. He was urging everyone to check out some new artist. I trust his opinion when it comes to music, so I clicked over to find the Soundcloud for Pair Of Arrows. It's an "Xx-ish" sort of sound, but with more haunting undertones, and a slightly downtempo rave vibe. (Jamie would still totally be proud.) I'd love to tell you much more about this little project, but there is almost absolutely nothing to find out. From their Facebook page, I gleaned it's two people going by the names Swan and R.D. They're from San Francisco. Since I couldn't find a press kit or anything else, I'm going to assume they're on the run from the law. Now THAT is exciting music, right? (Dear P.O.A. or Management - Send me some more of your tunes, m'kay pumpkins? shane@earmilk.com.)

Our favorite new obscure musical felons obviously draw upon 2010's darlings, The Xx, for inspiration. The sound just has a bit more depth, and less of the children's toy piano vibe. Fans of Telefon Tel Aviv will likely enjoy the complex pads and accompanying epic motion picture drums. It has all the makings of an opening track for a James Bond film; I could easily see this song doing butt-double duty for Madonna or Lady Gaga, albeit in a more downplayed role.

You can download this song on Soundcloud, 100% for free. (Hehe. Sorry SOPA.)
